If you ventured into one of the many caravans across the squares you would have been transported into another world. Eat! presented by The Rep is a theatrical journey telling tales of feasting, fasting and famine …and giving plenty of food for thought.

As well as the wealth of arts there has been a wide selection of food over the 4 Squares Weekender including Mexican and Korean sushi. Nom

One of the band names that I have kept hearing today is Perhaps Contraptions. They have been roaming the city - and from what I have heard on the ground and on Twitter, they have been one of the bands that have made a BIG impression today.

Pif Paf: Something to Hold presented by mac birmingham took place in Central Square, Brindleyplace across the weekend. A dark but fascinating performance that took place on, around and aided by an incredibly versatile aerial sculpture, metal and rope.

The Olivier Award-nominated Marion Tait CBE led a workshop in Town Hall, teaching an important section from The Sleeping Beauty which will be staged this autumn. Very few people ever get to see ‘behind-the-scenes’ at Birmingham Royal Ballet, so this was a hugely special treat - Town Hall was packed to the rafters.

Flatpack Festival set up in Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery's Waterhall for the Flatpack Film Cafe over the weekend. As well as an animation workshop and a series of short film programmes featuring music videos and comedies, the features included Bollywood classic Pakeezah and He Who Gets Slapped, a silent drama from 1924 with live accompaniment from John Sweeney (above).

This time it’s Ex Cathedra singing in the Library of Birmingham Amphitheatre. Sound travelled up to the waiting crowds above - beautiful.

After enjoying Musictube, music videos at the Flatpack Film Cafe, I fell upon a pop-up performance in the Industrial Gallery at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. Beatfreeks, an organisation engaging young people in art, dance and poetry took over the space in a powerful spoken word piece about history.

ALOT of fun this afternoon in Victoria Square with NoFit State Circus. Hula hooping, juggling, rope climbing, you name it, you could have a go at it.
